Dear Editor,
Good morning, North Battleford:
At this time of year, we have our children returning to school. We also have drivers who are oblivious to this.
Recently, I witnessed a near accident involving a child crossing 100th Street on her way to school. Two vehicles in the right-hand lane did not even slow down, let alone observe that she was waiting at the crosswalk on the right.
Drivers, slow down and be more aware of your surroundings! If you see a driver stopped in the left-hand lane, they are not necessarily turning left; they may be waiting for someone to cross the street.
This is a city where we have a lot ofpedestriantraffic and drivers have become lazy in observation. It also begs the question, what type of program does the RCMP and the city have in place to reduce speeders through school zones and on our main thoroughfares?
Not once in my four years of living here have I ever seen any radar in the school zones to slow drivers down.
BE AWARE OF THE PEDESTRIAN TRAFFIC ON OUR MAIN ROADS or it will be a matter of time before a family is broken by sad news.
