There have been so many catastrophes in the world lately, which I believe we all find depressing. So I am not going to talk about them this week. Instead I would like to about babies. Most people love babies don't they? What do you think of when you hear that word? The answers I received from friends were: throwing up, crying, changing and yelling. Strange that no one said smiles, gurgling and cooing. I just love that TV ad that shows a whole lot of babies laughing really hard, it's hilarious. I'm always telling my husband that if I could, I would have babies all my life. You can imagine the look that crossed his face. My family thinks I am a little strange because I bought myself two dolls. One of them says a whole bunch of things. The other one is a life size doll who looks exactly like a real baby. Actually my son told his wife at Christmas time, "If Mom says she wants Dad to dedicate that doll, we'll really have to have her committed." Oh well, it takes all sorts!
It boggles my mind when I think of how each baby has his or her own DNA. Two of my sisters gave birth to twins. One set was identical and the others were so different. One dark, the other as fair as could be.
Babies are so precious aren't they? My heart goes out to mothers who haven't been able to conceive. It must be so devastating for them.
They are all so different, too. Our firstborn daughter had such a crop of thick hair that a baby brush was useless for her. I had to have a small bristle brush otherwise we couldn't get through it. Then the next one was as bald as a coot. It didn't take too long for it to grow nicely though. As an adult he has really nice hair.
Our second daughter was born with lots of hair too, but a totally different texture. I thoroughly enjoyed motherhood, except for three months of our son's colic. But we learn to take the rough with the smooth, don't we?
I believe that babies are a special miracle from God. Each one is so special, whatever color, race or creed. It must be heartbreaking for parents to give birth to a child who is handicapped in some way, but these babies are loved just as much and are also very special to God. He loves them all.
Yes, babies are precious. Did you ever stop to thank God for those precious human beings He has given us the responsibility of raising? What an awesome privilege is ours as we nurture and care for them and train them up the way they should go, in this world of ours. Take care and God Bless you.
