WILLETT: Clara Edna Willett of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2013 at the age of 88. Clara was predeceased by her husband, Donald Willett; parents, Jacob and Rosa Frey; brothers and sisters, Henry (Emma) Frey, May (Otto) Kump, Albert Frey, Frieda Frey, Jake (Eva) Frey, Fred Frey, Roseina (Bob) Gardiner and Edward (Lorraine) Frey; niece Ruth Steele and great niece Angela Wychopin. Clara is survived by her children, Gwen (Keith) Ashby of Reno, NV; Vern (Sandy) Willett of Drayton Valley, AB and Tanya (Dale) Regnier of Weyburn, SK; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren; sister-in-law Norma Frey; sister-in-law Frances Frey as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Clara was born on the family farm near Cavell, Saskatchewan on July 7, 1925. She was the youngest of 9 children born to Jacob and Rosa Frey. She attended the Cavell school and then remained at home until she married Donald Willett on December 24, 1953. They lived in various locations including Fox Valley, SK, Irvine, AB, Medicine Hat, AB, Claresholm, AB, Fernie, BC and on a farm near Maidstone, SK, prior to settling in North Battleford in 1963. The first of their children was born in 1957, a girl, Gweneth Rose. A son, Vernon Roy was born in 1958 and another daughter Tanya Jean in 1965. In 1998 they moved to Weyburn to be nearer to their daughter Tanya and her family. Since April 2012, Clara resided at Tatagwa View. Her life was devoted to her family and she was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was selfless and performed many kind acts of service for her family and those around her. She was a great homemaker and will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. A Funeral Service was held on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 11:00AM from Sallows & McDonald Funeral Home, North Battleford, Saskatchewan with Brother Arthur Jones officiating. Interment followed at Battleford Cemetery, Battleford, Saskatchewan. Pallbearers were Keith Ashby, David Ashby, Vern Willett, Scott Ashby, Dale Regnier and Curtis Regnier. Honourary Pallbearers were Eric Willett, Nathan Regnier, Bryan Frey, Barry Frey and Bob Gardiner. Donations in memory of Clara may be made to Tatagwa View-House 11, 808 Souris Valley Road, Weyburn, Saskatchewan, S4H 2Z9.
