Daughter - Sandra (Mike) Rosser of Calgary, Alberta and Daughter - Glenys (Grey) Crosland of Fort McMurray, Alberta. Daughter in law Lynda Moses of Vermilion, Alberta, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren. Predeceased by Husband Bert Moses in 1973, grandson Aaron in 1976, son Ron in 1976. Brothers Albert (Jane), Arthur (Ethel), Harry (Freda), John (baby buried on family farm) and Percy (Janet) Phillips. Sisters Rosina Purdy and Annie (Ed) Boskill and partners Chester Waldenburger in 1995, Aubrey Flegg in 2011. Family Tribute by daughter in law Lynda Moses. Alice Florence Bird Horton Phillips was the 8th child born to Mary Jane (Bird) and William Phillips on October 11, 1917, on the family farm, North of Richard, Sask. Brothers Albert and Harry were in Europe fighting W.W.1., when they returned home renamed her (Betty), later she changed her name to Betty Bird Horton Phillips. Six of the Phillips children had the name Bird and/or Horton for a middle name. Her parents arrived from England in 1904 to settle on the family farm in what later was called the Bromley School District. Her parents built a cement home, witched housed the first post office in the area. Also active in organizing and building the Bromley School and the Anglican Church, in which Betty was baptized, confirmed and married in. Her mother Mary Jane was a midwife for two local doctors. The hungry and dirty thirties weren't good teen years for Betty, went looking for work. At that time the Sask Government was paying $2.50 a month, while Alberta Government was paying $25.00 a month. Found work on the G Moses farm south of Vermilion, Alberta. married their son Bert Moses on October 26, 1938. Betty and Bert purchased a 10 acre sire, known as the Vermilion Auto Court Campgrounds, built a new farm stead home in 1952, raised 4 children (son Gary and family reside on this farm now). Betty was secretary for the Bowtell Busy Bees, Legion member for 55 years, member of the Chatsworth Chatter Club, worked for years at the local Auction Mart, did care giving work where needed. Moved to Kelowna, BC in 1964 worked at a gas station, at which one time having a extra busy day, when the daily cash was counted, she was 2 cents short. In retirement years, her gift of care giving continued, to Ches-partner till 1995 and Aubery 2002 to 2011. Moved to Calgary in 2011, to her daughter (Sandra) home, where Betty passed away at age 95 years, October 26, 2012, same day she married Bert some 74 years ago and the same day her mother passed away 48 years ago.
