ORR : Funeral services for David Orr, age 82 of Kamsack who died April 26, 2011 in Kamsack was held Tuesday, May 3 in the chapel of Andrychuk Funeral Home with Revs. Kim and Susan Salo officiating. Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery in Kamsack. Dave was born in North Battleford, SK on March 5, 1929, the youngest child of Robert and Laura Orr of Cater, SK. He grew up with four sisters and one brother and attended Cater School. He left home in 1948 to work in Ontario near his father's childhood home of Arthur. In 1950 he returned to Cater to farm with his father. In 1958 he married Marjorie Taylor in Medstead, SK. They started their family in Prince Albert with the birth of Sharon in 1960, Allan in 1961 and Beverly in 1964. Carol was born in Arcola in 1967. In 1956 Dave began his long career with the Government of Saskatchewan that took him from building roads in northern Saskatchewan with the Construction Branch, to the Parks Branch as maintenance supervisor at Duck Mountain Provincial Park in 1966 and to Moose Mountain Provincial Park in 1967. In 1972 he was promoted to the Resource Officer series and was transferred to Meadow Lake Provincial Park, first near Dorintosh and then to Pierceland in 1973 with responsibility for the west half of the Meadow Lake Park District. He accepted a promotion to Park Superintendent with a move to The Battlefords Provincial Park in 1976. In 1979 he was transferred back to Duck Mountain Park and Madge Lake where he enjoyed being Park Superintendent until 1986. After a brief period of time commuting to Fort Qu'Appelle he retired in 1987 to live in the Kamsack home he and Marj purchased in 1986. Dave was predeceased by his daughter Sharon, his parents, his sisters Mary Latimer and Olive Steen, and his brother Ken. He is survived by his wife Marj, son Allan (Carol), daughters Bev (Craig Campbell) and Carol (Ken) Belley, grandchildren David, Theresa, Emily, Adam and Eric, sisters Jean Kutz and Alwyn Davies, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Dave enjoyed reading, listening to classical music, collecting antiques, watching baseball, going to Roughrider games, going for coffee in the morning, walking, gardening, being a member of the Masonic Lodge, Shrine and Eastern Star and visiting. In keeping with his gentle nature, he was a good neighbour and an interested, supportive, loving grandfather, father and husband. He will be missed by his family and by his community. In memory of Dave, donations may be made to the Eaglestone Lodge Personal Care Home in Kamsack, or a charity of one's choice. __________________________________________________
