NYKIFORUK: In Loving Memory of Andrew Orest Nykiforuk who was born Dec. 14, 1932 at Dominion Area, SK and passed away Dec. 12, 2012 at North Battleford, SK. Andrew is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Louise; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Evelyn Althouse, Kelvington, SK; his siblings: Paul (Virginia) Nykiforuk, Saskatoon, SK, Natalie (Orest) Reshetnyk, North Battleford, SK, Mary Nykiforuk, Red Deer, AB; nieces, nephews and their families. Andrew was predeceased by his parents, Sam & Nellie Nykiforuk; his nephew, Larry Nykiforuk; father-in-law, Frederick "Fritz" Althouse and aunts and uncles. The Funeral Service was held Monday, Dec. 17, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. from "The Garden Chapel" ~ Battlefords Funeral Service with Very Rev. Fr. Taras Udod, Ukrainian Orthodox Church Of St. John The Baptist, North Battleford, SK officiating. The Cross Bearer was Orest Reshetnyk and Altar Server, Michael Nikiforuk. Music Ministry was Cantor and Choir Director, Mrs. Sally Lazarowich and Ukrainian Orthodox Church Choir. The Pallbearers were Mary Nykiforuk, Ronald Goyan, Shirley Markowsky, Michael Waschuk, Gerald Reshetnyk and Eugene Chorney. Memorials are requested to Canadian Cancer Society. Interment took place at City Cemetery, North Battleford, SK. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Battlefords Funeral Service. 446-4200 Eulogy Andrew Orest Nykiforuk was born Dec. 14, 1932 in the Dominion area north east of North Battleford. He first attended Dominion School, then completed High School in North Battleford, and furthered his education at Teacher's College in Saskatoon. He achieved his B.A, and B.ED by taking summer classes and night classes. This started his teaching career which spanned 30 years teaching at various rural schools throughout Saskatchewan. In 1966 while Andrew was teaching in Kelvington, he met and married Louise Althouse. He retired in 1985 from North Battleford Comprehensive High School. Andrew enjoyed his retirement years working in his yard and garden. His hobbies included cooking, curling, playing pool and a good game of Kaiser. In July of 2012 Andrew & Louise moved into Harwood Manor where they have resided to the present time. After a brief stay at the Battlefords Union Hospital, Andrew passed away peacefully on Dec. 12, just 2 days short of his 80th birthday.
