MISCHUK, MICHAEL: The family of Michael announce his passing on July 13, 2013 at Battleford, SK. Michael was born April 2, 1927 to Joe and Dora Mischuk. Mike and Sally (nee Swystun) were married for nearly 62 years. Mike taught in numerous small schools starting in 1947 at Co-operation School in Rabbit Lake, SK, then Sparrow Hill School in Hatherleigh, SK and Howard #2 School in Redfield, SK. In 1961 he moved to Mayfair High School until his retirement in 1982. Mike taught in various high schools in North Battleford during his retirement. He also farmed a quarter section of what was part of his family farm north of Whitkow. He was a carpenter, mechanic and an all-around Handy Man! He spent time building and fixing at his children's homes and yards. Mike was an avid volunteer during his Mayfair years, working at the arena, church, hall and various community activities. While living in North Battleford, the church occupied a lot of his time with renovations, fund raising and volunteer work. He also volunteered with the Ukrainian Cultural Council and Multicultural Club in North Battleford. He loved music, choir and his mandolins. Dancing was his passion as you would see him and Sally always on the dance floor - even while living in the nursing home! Michael will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sally; his son, David (Maryann) Mischuk and their children Adam Mischuk and his daughter, Logan and Desire Mischuk (Mike Lieffers); his daughter, Linda (Dave) Shyluk and their children, Clinton Shyluk, Matthew (Heather) Shyluk and Jolisa (Logan) Harder; Mike's sister Mary (Wally) Lupul and their family will sadly miss him along with all of his brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Michael was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Dora (Andriash) Mischuk; brother, Walter Mischuk; and in-laws, Mike and Mary Swystun. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM at All Saints Ukrainian Catholic Church, North Battleford, SK. with Rev. Fr. Vladimir Simunovic as celebrant. The cross bearer was Larry Romanow and John Swystun was the Epistle reader. The pallbearers were Clinton Shyluk, Matthew Shyluk, Adam Mischuk, Jolisa Harder, Desire Mischuk and Terry Swystun. Donations in memory of Michael may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan or the Battlefords District Care Centre - Alzheimer Unit and/or 3rd floor Hands of Care.
