MICHAYLUK: Eugene Michayluk passed away on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 at Battlefords Union Hospital, North Battleford, SK. He was born in Wakaw, SK on June 30, 1926, but grew up in St. Julien, SK. When a teenager, his parents moved to Prince Albert.

MICHAYLUK: Eugene Michayluk passed away on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 at Battlefords Union Hospital, North Battleford, SK. He was born in Wakaw, SK on June 30, 1926, but grew up in St. Julien, SK. When a teenager, his parents moved to Prince Albert. He continued his schooling in Prince Albert and later was hired in the business office of Victoria Union Hospital. He accepted the position of Hospital Administrator in Davidson, 1956 and helped with the building of the hospital there. In 1958 an opportunity came up for the Hospital Administrator position in Hafford. He worked many hours when a new hospital was built and spent many hours in 1980 when the Nursing Home came into being. While he was in Hafford, he was a member of the Town Council. He was a Coroner for the district for 48 years. He helped create a golf course at Redberry Lake along with Dr. Ed Nykiforuk, Eugene Zomber, Ed Knoll and Phil Weimer. He treasured his association with the Hafford Ukrainian Orthodox Church and was a member for 50 years. He enjoyed the jam sessions and his many friends who participated. Hats off to the fiddlers in Meadow Sweet Manor and the residents who made his life enjoyable. He leaves to mourn: his wife of 63 years, Elsie, his children: Darcia Tkatchuk (Jim), Myron (Rita) Michayluk, Tim (Audrey) Michayluk and 8 grandchildren: Vince Tkatchuk (Shannon), Terry Tkatchuk, Cheri Tkatchuk, Amanda Bijou (Dale), Darryl and Leanne Michayluk, Katrina and Julianna Michayluk; 3 great-grandchildren: Kaitlin, Traye and Ashton; one brother, Steve of 101 years young. Eugene was predeceased by his parents, Simon and Paraska Michayluk and in-laws, Wasyl and Anna Romanovich. Other members who passed on were his sister, Ann and brothers, Bill, Dick, John and Alex and their wives. He treasured his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family members and co-workers and friends. He wishes God's blessing on all of them. The family extends sincerest thanks and appreciation to Dr. Du plessis and the Palliative Care Unit at Battlefords Union Hospital. The Funeral Service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013 with Very Rev. Fr. Taras Makowsky officiating; Prayer Service was held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2013; both Services from Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. John the Baptist, North Battleford, SK. Interment took place at the Town Of Battleford Cemetery. The family have requested that memorial donations be made to the Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation, Box 1358, North Battleford, SK S9A 3L8 (designate to the Palliative Care Unit).
