LAPP: In Loving Memory of Delmar Keith Lapp who was born May 22, 1929 at Watrous, SK and passed away June 9, 2013 at North Battleford, SK. Left to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 59 years, Darrallene; loving children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Yvonne Lapp - Jacey, Jan (Erin), Jared (Cheryl), Teagan (Jeremy): Memphis; Rhonda (Randy) Kotun - Chanda (Jesse): Colby - Jerin; Curtis (Barb) Lapp - Tyler (Linda): Kiera & Cash - Clay, Sidney, Braidyn; sisters and brother: Ona Harasym, Clarence Lapp, Fern Harasym; brother-in-law, Gilbert Groseth; nieces and nephews. Del was predeceased by his parents: William and Mary Lapp; sister, Hazel Lapp; grandson, Shane; sister-in-law, Charlotte Lapp; brothers-in-law: Pete and Bill Harasym; in-laws: Harry & Irene Groseth. Service of Thanksgiving was held Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Third Avenue United Church, North Battleford, SK with Rev. Frances Patterson and Rev. Fred J. Tinio, officiating. Family Memories were shared by Gail Morgan. Music Ministry was Organist/Pianist ~ Jaya Hoy; Soloist ~ Robert MacKay - "What A Wonderful World" and Hymn Selections were "How Great Thou Art" & "Amazing Grace". The Honour Guard was present with Lions and Sons Of Norway. The Honourary Pallbearers were "All His Friends" and Active Pallbearers were grandsons Tyler, Jacey, Jan, Jared, Clay & Jesse. Memorials are requested to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Diabetes Association, C.N.I.B. and Donors Choice. Interment followed at the City Cemetery, North Battleford, SK. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Battlefords Funeral Service. Eulogy Delmar Keith Lapp was born on May 22, 1929 on a farm near Watrous, Saskatchewan. At the age of 9, the family moved from the farm into Watrous. Del, along with his siblings worked odd jobs to help support the family while also attending school. After Del finished grade 9 he worked full time at the creamery and other odd jobs for 3 years until 1947, where at the age of 18 he started as a clerk at the OK Economy. Del worked as a clerk for 3 years and was then promoted to relief manager at various country stores. IN 1951 Del was appointed manager of the store in Maidstone. In 1953, Darrallene and Del met, she knew he was the man of her dreams and they were married in 1954. In 1957 Del and Darrallene were blessed with their first born, Yvonne. During the same year, the family transferred to Saskatoon where they were blessed with two more children, Rhonda and Curtis. He managed a store for 8 years. In 1968 Del and family moved to North Battleford where he managed the OK Economy until his retirement in 1989. In total Del worked Western Groceries for 42 years and retired at the age of 60. One of Del's interests in life was playing the coronet which included being bandleader while in Maidstone. Del also enjoyed wood chip carving and carving wildlife for 24 years. A personalized wood chipped carved box was given to every one of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was proud of his work and was famous for marking his name on his items, the family has often joked that they always believed that Del's name was tattooed somewhere on Darrallene too. Del was also an avid bee keeper and spent many years making honey and tendering to his beehives. Del enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing, fishing and playing cards. Del always had patience taking the grandchildren fishing, when he spent more time untangling their fishing line, than actually fishing, Grandpa often took the grandchildren out for a boat ride and would travel through the reeds, letting the kids grab onto the reeds until they were actually able to make the boat slow and nearly stop - all with a smile on his face! Even with a house full of family or friends, grandpa was always able to "catch a cat nap" while using his finger to hold his eye open to give the illusion that he was actually awake! Grandpa also received very "stylish" hairdoos from the grandchildren and would sit patiently while they mastered their hairdressing abilities. Del's children grew up knowing that Del had very ticklish feet and spent many Sunday mornings at the end of his bed tickling his feet to wake him. This was an important trait that Yvonne, Rhonda and Curtis made sure to enlighten their children about, who carried on the tradition of tickling his feet whenever they could. Del was an active member of the Lions club for 44 years and had held every office during his membership. He was also an active member of the Son's of Norway for 29 years where he was president and treasurer. Del's family was his priority, his wife, 3 children, 11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren with the 5th due in October meant the world to him. For many years the family enjoyed camping at Turtle Lake and in 1986 Del & Darrallene purchased a cabin there, where the entire family was able to continue making memories that will never be forgotten, While at the lake, Del served terms of both council member and mayor for the total of 9 years/ If you ask any of the grandchildren, they would all be able to share many stories of spending time with their grandfather and all the skills he taught them and the laughs they had. One of the favourite memories of the grandchildren was grandpa's animation in reading "Caps for Sale, Caps for Sale, 50 cents a cap". Some of grandpa's best advice to his grandchildren concerned finances. His famous quote to them was "you have your income and your outcome, if you have more going out of your outcome then income, you're working backwards!!" First and foremost, Del was a loving husband and family man, as well as a n honest, loving, patient, compassionate, proud and understanding man who had a quiet strength ad integrity about him. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends. We are so grateful for the wonderful, compassionate care Del received making his stay as comfortable as could be. Thanks to Rev. Frances Patterson & Rev.
