KNIGHT: Gerald Alexander Knight of St. Walburg passed away on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the age of 86 years. Gerald Alexander Knight was born on June 10, 1926, to Herbert and Beatrice Knight near Bright Sand Lake, Saskatchewan. In 1952, Gerald married Eileen Eunice Long and set up home in St. Walburg. In his early 30's he contracted spinal meningitis and spent several years on the road to recovery. He fought back to regain his health. He never complained and always told others he was getting better every day. It was a fight he never abandoned until his passing. Gerald was the proud father of four boys, Jim, Bill, Bob and Ross; the grandfather of eight, and the great grandfather of one. Many area residents will remember Gerald from the gas pumps at St. Walburg Motors. He was always happy to see you, especially if you were of the female gender. Pops was a unique character in St Walburg, from hitchhiking rides from home to the garage with anyone who would stop, and later in life riding his scooter down the middle of the road with Jade, his dog, by his side. Every day they went downtown to pick up the mail or go for coffee. Gerald spent the last couple years of his life under the excellent care of the St. Walburg Nursing Home and their compassionate staff. He truly loved his family and was a great husband, father and grandfather. He was predeceased by: his brothers, Geoff and Cliff; and his sister, Bertha Ward; and Baby Knight. Gerald is survived by: his wife, Eileen ; his children, Jim, Bill, Bob (Karen) and Ross (Gail); his eight grandchildren, Chad, Nicole, Chantal, David, Vanessa, Mitchell, Casey, and Carlee; one great grandchild, Taysia; and all his extended families and many special friends. The Funeral Service for Gerald was conducted from the Elk's Community Hall in St. Walburg on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. with Donna Hall officiating.
