KLAIN: STELLA KLAIN, June 27, 1919 - January 11, 2013, On January 11, 2013, we marked the peaceful passing of our dear Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Stella Klain. The Lord blessed her with 93 years! She lived independently until only recently. She was born Stephania Gramiak, on June 27, 1919, on the family homestead, near Hafford, Saskatchewan. She married Peter J. Klain on October 28, 1947. Peter was in the lumber business and that involved many transfers and changes in location. She remained supportive of this and lived in several Saskatchewan communities: Margo, Leipzig, Meota, Rock Glen, Foam Lake. After Peter's passing she lived in Saskatoon, Calgary, North Battleford and finally Cardston, Alberta. She had many new beginnings in many new places. She met many new people and touched many lives. She was a great example of courage and kindness. She was sustained by her faith, her family and a very positive attitude. She was completely devoted to her family. Highly skilled in the domestic arts, she turned every house into a home. She was an outstanding cook and an amazing baker. She, literally, baked thousands of cookies for her children, grandchildren, and now great grandchildren! Her greatest passion was her garden, her love of nature and reading, and the Canadian North. She transformed many a plot of neglected land into an oasis with vegetables, shrubs, trees and flowers. Her faith was very important to her and she always remained active in her church in each community that she found herself in. She leaves us a legacy of living life, no matter the circumstances, with faith, courage, strength of character, great dignity and a very positive attitude. For that we will be forever grateful. Stella was pre-deceased by her husband Peter (1971), her parents Harry and Dorothy Gramiak, her brothers Bill Gramiak and John Gramiak, her sisters Helen Alexuik and Sally Charko. She is survived by her sisters Olga Kozak and Marie Ransom, and many nieces and nephews. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Patty (Orest) Kotelko, her son Alan (Patti) Klain, eight Grandchildren, Andrea (Troy)Leavitt, Carly (David) de Groot, Micah (Aric) Pavan, Brenan (Beth) Klain, Katie Kotelko, Dallin Klain, Mallory (Kam) Wheeler, Grayden Klain and thirteen Great Grandchildren. Our most sincere gratitude goes to Dr. Brian Low and the caring staff of Cardston Hospital for their kindness and compassion. We are also very appreciative of the amazing work of the care givers from Cardston Home Care, in particular, Sherry Heather and Judy Jacobs. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the management and kind and caring staff of Lee Crest. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 10 AM at Park Funeral Chapel (311 - 3rd Avenue N. Saskatoon, SK) with interment to take place at Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. In lieu of flowers, if people so desire, Memorial Donations may be made to the Good Samaritan Society at with donations directed to Lee Crest in Cardston, Alberta. Arrangements entrusted to Legacy Funeral Home, Cardston, Alberta and Park Funeral Chapel, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, 306.244.2103.
