KABAROFF: Katherine (Diachek) October 4, 1913 - September 24, 2011 Katie passed away peacefully at Battelford Regional Care Center 10 days shy of her 98th birthday. Born in Western Ukraine, Katie came to Kuroki, Saskatchewan with her parents Mary & Fred Holowaty in 1925. Katie moved to North Battleford as a young woman to work at the Savoy Cafe. Here she met and married Pete Diachek. Katie and Pete owned and operated the Snack Shop on 101st Street. She was predeceased by Pete in 1967. Katie later married Sam Kabaroff. She was also predeceased by Sam in 2005. Katie loved her home and garden, she loved to cook, she loved her cats and that love touched many hearts with kindness. Also predeceased by her parents and brothers Steve, Dick and William, Katie is survived by her loving family members, sister Helen, brother's Roy, Joe (Rose) and Leo (Bernice), many nieces and nephews plus many cherished friends. A graveside service will be held October 11, 2011 at 11:00am at the City Cemetery where her ashes will be interred with Pete Diachek as was her wish. In lieu of flowers a donation to the local SPCA in Katie's name would be wonderful and Katie would say Thank You.
