HANSON - Leonard Martin Hanson passed away peacefully at the Riverside Health Complex in Turtleford, Saskatchewan on Monday, February 20th, 2012 at the age of 87 years. He leaves behind to forever cherish his memory his loving wife Elsie; daughter Pam (Louis) Rivard; granddaughter Tammy (Lyndon) Bergsma; grandson Marty (Mandy) Rivard; great grandchildren: Jori & Colson Bergsma and Aiden Rivard; sisters: Shirley (Emile) Tanguay, Kathleen Alexander, Gladys Paradis; brother Harold Hanson as well as numerous relatives. The funeral service was conducted from the Turtleford Community Centre on Saturday, February 25th, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Canon Donald Skinner officiating. The eulogies as written by Pam Rivard and George Barr were read by Reverend Canon Donald Skinner. Music ministry was provided by Shelley Bloom and Greg & Inga Sample called "Supper Time". The hymn "How Great Thou Art" was led by Reverend Canon Donald Skinner. Music played during everyone's entrance and exit was provided by Rick & Christie Starnes. Honorary Pallbearers were the Turtleford Tiger Hockey Club and all who shared in his life. Active Pallbearers were: Rodney Gordon, Glen Lawrence, George Barr, Bert Taves, Gordon Spencer and Charles Range. The family have requested that donations in Leonard's memory be made to the Riverside Health Complex in Turtleford, Alzhiemers Society or a Charity of the donor's choice. The interment was held at the Turtleford Cemetery. McCaw Funeral Service Ltd. of Turtleford, Saskatchewan administered the funeral arrangements. CARD OF THANKS Elsie, Pam and Family would like to express their thanks to all family and friends who honored Leonard. The kind words, phone calls, cards, visits, flowers, food and donations were overwhelming. A special gratitude to Doctors, Nurse Practitioners and all staff at the Riverside Health Complex for their compassionate care, delicious home cooked meals, sparkling accommodations and well manicured green spaces. You made Leonard's time their very home like and comfortable. Thanks to the Active Pallbearers, Turtleford Tiger Hockey Teammates and all who shared in his life. The beautiful music of Shelley Bloom along with Greg and Inga Sample was very emotional - Thank You. The hymn was inspirationally led by Shelly, Greg, Inga and Reverend Canon Donald Skinner and for that we give thanks. Thanks Rick and Christie Starnes for taking the time to prepare a CD for the funeral - it was my parent's favourites. The Turtleford Community Centre for the use of your great facility and the ladies for the lovely lunch - we truly have a great appreciation of the community we live in. Reverend Canon Donald Skinner, you were our guiding light. Words cannot thank you enough for the service, your strong voice and warming words of prayer. A big thank you to Lyle & Sheila McKee who organized a hot meal for our family and friends after the funeral at the Turtle River Valley Lodge - it warmed our hearts and our souls. Also thanks to Kathy Lawrence and Fran McGinty for your helping hands that evening along with everyone who helped make that day a special remembrance of Leonard's life.
