GRIFFITHS: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Bruce Kent Griffiths October 2, 2011 in Kitimat B.C. Bruce was born on June 15, 1942 - just 4 minutes after his twin brother Brian. Bruce grew up in the Willowmoor district and walked 3 miles each day to and from school. He finished school at grade 8 and worked for awhile with his Dad on the telephone lines before moving to town to work at local garages. He moved to Kitimat in February, 1964 while Diana went to Teacher's College in Saskatoon. He was a little overwhelmed with the house high snow banks. He worked at Alcan taking a break in 66-67 to work around Battleford while Diana finished her second year of teaching. They married in 1967 and moved back to Kitimat to Alcan and then on to Eurocan in 1971. Bruce had many interests and perfected them all! He loved dancing and could perform the Russian Polka like none other. His passions were wild game hunting, mostly moose - even taking Diana along after retiring because she got the draws!, fishing, skiing, mechanics and always had the tools to help whenever needed. Bruce leaves to celebrate and cherish his memories, his wife of 44 years Diana. He also leaves his older sister Jeanne (Donald) Laycock, favorite niece and nephews Danny, Shelby (Tracey) Greuter and Robbie; mother-in-law Irene Degenstein and Diana's siblings Edna (Glen) Wasmuth, Todd (Susan) Patricia, David (Linda), Brian (Theresa), Barry (Janet), Walter (Pat), Stephan (Pam), Lorraine (Allan) Hoey, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and life long friends. Bruce was predeceased by his parents Bill and Lavina Griffiths, father-in-law Joe Degenstein, twin brother Brian and niece Debbie Foley. There will be a celebration in honor of his life at the Eagle Hills Community Centre on Saturday October 29 at 3:00 p.m. Socializing and potluck supper. Donations may be made to the Heart Fund or the Eagle Hills Community Center. ____________________________________________________
