Predeceased by three infant brothers, her parents, husband, sister and brother-in-law. Shared Memories by Janelle Cox Joy Eveline was born on October 7th, 1934 at her parent's farm in the Garden Prairie District. As a child she enjoyed horses, dogs, cats, and pretty much any animal on the farm. Grandma went to school until grade 10 at the Garden Prairie School. Grandma and Grandpa met on New Year's Eve at a get together and married October 28th, 1950. Shortly after they married they worked on a farm in Rockhaven for a year in a half, Grandpa in the field and Grandma taking care of the farmer's wife and home. Grandpa owned a quarter of land with a house on it that needed repairs, so they fixed it up while living and working with the Leasks and the Glessings. They had their first child, Anthony, in 1952 and their second, Arlene, in 1957. Three years later they bought a farm in the Ibstone district, where they had a mixed farm of grain, cattle and chickens. Grandma was a part of the Ibstone Quilting Club making numerous of quilts over the years. Anthony took over the farm in 1975 and Grandma and Grandpa moved to town. Grandma had a variety of jobs in town at Peavy Mart, Pyramid Homes, Pacific 66, Wally's Food Basket, Battleford Drug Mart, and finally settling in at Marion's Pharmacy till retirement. Grandma always enjoyed working and interacting with the public. Another passion of Grandma's was preserving artifacts for future generations and this was displayed with her 20 years of volunteer work at the Fred Light Museum. She also really enjoyed volunteering with Meals on Wheels. Grandma's religion was a very important part of her life, attending church regularly, volunteering with the church and always reading her bible. I read somewhere that there is no place like home, except Grandma's. That couldn't be more true. Grandma's number one passion, the light of her life, was all of her grandchildren. Almost every childhood memory I have, Grandma is there. Whether it is spending time together in her massive garden, eating raw rhubarb dipped in sugar, trying on every possible piece of jewellery she had, or walking down to the store to buy scratch lottery tickets, Grandma was there. Every time I was sick with strep throat, I would get on the phone with Grandma to tell her because she always swung by the Husky to get me a Pepsi slush. When I turned 15 and was getting my learners licence, Grandma and I figured I would probably need as much practice as possible, so we got special permission for me to be able to drive with her. You were a brave woman Grandma! But I think my number one favourite time of the year with Grandma was Halloween. Every year at the end of our trick or treating adventures we would stop at Grandmas to finish the night off. And every year we couldn't wait to see what costume Grandma had worn. To make things even scarier, and she did this with every trick or treater, she would open the door, just stare at you and not say a word. She would usually cock her head to the side, hand you candy, and then shut the door. It was so funny. Even after we stopped trick or treating, we always still stopped at Grandma's. Grams, today I am not going to say goodbye because I know in my heart that you are still here with me. Growing up you never missed a basketball, volleyball, or badminton game. You made every dance recital, Christmas concert, school awards and graduation. Every birthday, Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas and wedding you were there. I know you'll be there to help me celebrate my next career success and when I decide to have my first child. You were my biggest cheerleader and I don't see that ever changing. I love you grams, see you at the next big event!
