FEHR: In loving memory of Katie Fehr, September 10, 1924 - may 16th, 2014. Katie Fehr (Peters) was born Sept. 10, 1924 in Neu-Halbstadt, Â鶹´«Ã½AV Russia, known as the Eastern Ukraine. In 1926 Katie's parents immigrated to Canada, settling near Winnipeg, Manitoba where her father worked for farmers for a few years. Then in 1928 they moved to Beechy, Sask. where they bought land of their own. Her father Peter Peters died unexpectedly in 1928. Her mother took her infant son and Katie and moved into town. To support them her mother did housework and other odd jobs. In 1930 Katie's mother married George Kochn and they moved to Gould town. The family grew by seven with three more over the next few years. In May 1934 they moved 400 miles north to Speedwell, north of Glaslyn. Katie got her education at the Speedwell School. She met Orville Fehr and they were married in Feb. 1946. Then the children began to arrive, 11 in all. They lost 1 infant daughter. Katie worked hard to raise her family, doing chores on the farm as well as her own house hold duties when her husband was away working. Katie loved her grand-children, great-grandchildren, as well as her big vegetable and flower gardens and her humming birds. She was a fantastic cook, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She was always filled with joy whenever there were huge family gatherings. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is lovingly remembered by: Her husband Orville Fehr of 68 years, children: John (Margaret) Fehr, Judy (Lawrence) Lozowchuck, Kathy (Don) Heidel, Diane Meek, Randy (Joyce) Fehr, Marilyn (Victor) Goll, Karen Fehr, Garry (Gloria) Fehr, Keith (Donna) Fehr, Myron (Becky) Fehr, 27 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, sisters Elsie, Alma and Vilora. She was pre deceased by: infant daughter Donna (1 week old), father, mother, brother, step dad, 2 step sisters, 5 step brothers. Funeral service was held May 23, 2014 at 2:00pm, Territorial Drive Alliance Church, North Battleford, Saskatchewan. Officiating was Rev. Dan Geis, Shared memories of Katie were presented by Christopher Fehr (grandson), Honorary Pallbearers: all grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Robert Fehr, Travis Heidel, Perry Fehr, Vincent Goll, Sheldon Fehr, Tyler Fehr, Ushers were: Dallen Lozowchuck, Derek Fehr, Mark Fehr, Adrian Fehr. Interment took place at Woodlawn;awn Cemetery, North Battleford, Saskatchewan.
