DIDULA: Rose Didula (Halewich) 1918 - 2013: It is with heavy hearts the family announces the peaceful passing of Rose Didula on the morning of Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Stensrud Lodge, Saskatoon, SK at the age of 95 years. Rose was born in the Woila district of Glaslyn, SK. Mom and Dad met in the late 30's and they married in Glaslyn in 1940. Dad was a shoemaker and together they made their home at the back of the shoe shop, residing there until they moved to North Battleford in 1959. Mom started her retail career at Dart's Store in Glaslyn and then was employed at Conkins Department Store in North Battleford until her retirement. Mom had a green thumb when it came to gardening, a weed dared not grow! Cross stitching was a passion and her works of art were lovingly gifted to numerous family members and friends. Baba's handmade quilts were the best; many hours were spent shopping for just the right fabric. They had to be soft and cuddly! Her home was always warm and welcoming. Noone's butter tarts or lemon pie were as good as Auntie Rosie's. Rose was predeceased by her parents, Ilko and Maria (Kuziw) Halewich; husband, William (Bill) in 1997; brothers: Michael (in infancy), William (Jean), Peter (Olga) and Nick (Tenna); sisters: Katherine (Mike) Lysko, Nellie (Jacob) Kucharuk, Olga (in infancy), Olga (in infancy) and Olga (Harry) Dmytryshyn. Left to cherish her memory are her son, John (Cindy) of Saskatoon, their children: Alanna (Roman) Kukura, Winnipeg, MB and Michael, Vancouver, BC; daughter, Iris (Garry) Burch, Red Deer, AB and their son, David (Shannon), Calgary, AB; four great-grandchildren, Pierce and Kayden Burch and Lealya and Ksenya Kukura; sisters: Ann Socholotiuk, St. Thomas, ON, Dora (Lloyd) Teigen, Osoyoos, BC and Mary Hines, Victoria, BC as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Prayer Service was held 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 919-20th St., W, Saskatoon, SK. Funeral Service was held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 16, 2013 at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. John, 992 - 108th St, North Battleford, SK. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in Rose's memory may do so to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. John, North Battleford, SK. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home and Battlefords Funeral Service. God saw the road was getting rough And the hills were hard to climb So He closed your weary eyelids And whispered "Peace Be Thine" Vichnya Pa ____________________________________________________
