CISECKI: My memories of Uncle Bill began not long after him and his wife Aunt Eileen moved to Blaine Lake, SK where the couple operated a grocery store and had purchased a home. They were my special Uncle and Aunt as I was always regarded as a guest, never allowing me to help in their home. Uncle Bill always took an interest in my family. Life was so peaceful and relaxing in a small town. I enjoyed many visits, playing cards, watching his television programs, going out for coffee and the trips to Saskatoon. My youngest daughter Kara enjoyed coming with me as Uncle Bill would allow her to sneak extra candies before mealtime and an ice-cream cone meant an extra scoop for her. Uncle Bill took great interest in her activities. As the years passed it took much persuasion to convince him the need to move to Saskatoon to be nearer to medical help. So with the help of another daughter Linda, Saskatoon became a new home in Scott Forget Tower. After his heart attack the roles reversed and I was in charge of taking him out for medical appointments, meals, coffee, shopping and visiting. Finally Sherbrooke Nursing Home became his permanent home in House 7 for more than 5 years. Uncle Bill enjoyed us visiting him, taking him out and attending the Christmas parties. It was always so cute to see Uncle Bill and Aunt Eileen embrace each other, kiss and say "I love you" upon arriving and then departing. After the fractured hip back at Sherbrook, Uncle Bill moved to House 2. He seemed to be quite comfortable. On one of my last visits, I took Uncle Bill in his wheelchair outside and wheeled him around the facility. He quite enjoyed that and even better was the chocolate ice-cream, his favorite. Later he enjoyed coffee and a cookie in the cafeteria. He much enjoyed his sweets. The next time, I was called to his bedside as Uncle Bill was not responding. Another niece Francis joined me there. Appreciation to Chaplain Audrey for your prayers for Uncle Bill. Thank-you to Father Andre LaLach for the Last Rite as we prayed that late night. Although Uncle Bill mentioned numerous times hoping to live to 100 years. Back in 1986, Uncle Bill made his funeral arrangements with a local Funeral Home. We are saddened to announce his passing away peacefully in the early hours of October 6, 2013. Vichnaya pamyat! Memory Eternal! Written by niece Jeannie Penzie. Divine Liturgy for William was held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 @ 1 p.m. from Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church, Krydor, SK with Father Vladimir Simunovic as Celebrant. Interment took place at the St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic cemetery. The family has requested that memorial donations in William's memory be directed to the Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church, c/o PO Box 95, Blaine Lake, SK S0J 0J0.
