CHATFIELD, ROBERTA EILEEN: Roberta passed away on May 8, 2013 at the age of 86. Roberta is survived by her daughters Betty Lou (Les) Harris of Eckville, AB and sons Michael (Geri) King and Karl (Edith) King, both of Calgary, AB, Bernice Hanson (Joseph Molnar) of Saskatoon, SK, Shirley (Hans) Giesen of North Portal, SK and son Daniel (Tanya) Giesen of Saskatoon, SK, Joan (Curtis) Patchin of Calgary, AB and sons Bradley (Kristin) Patchin of Revelstoke, BC, Brent (Mandy) Patchin and their daughter Kira of Calgary, AB. Roberta was the eldest daughter of Thornton Herbert Cassils and Myrtle May Wyman Cassils, born the 28th of February 1927 in High River, Alberta. She lived in many places while growing up, High River, Beaver Dell, AB and then to Kelowna, BC where she graduated high school. Upon graduation, Roberta worked for Okanogan Telephones for 5 years before she met and married Jesse Joseph Chatfield on April 1, 1950 and moved to Cochin, SK to settle into, running a market garden, grain farming and raising beef cattle. After their family grew up they built a house on the shores of Murray Lake and spent winters travelling and then finally settling into wintering in Yuma, Arizona. In 2006 when they were not able to go south, they built a home in North Battleford where Roberta resided till Jesse passed in 2007. Roberta then moved to Saskatoon, SK where she resided till her passing. A Service of Remembrance will be held at Third Avenue United Church, North Battleford ~ on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society. Condolences may be sent to [email protected].
