BOURGEOIS: Georgette Simonne Bourgeois of North Battleford, SK and formerly Gravelbourg, SK, passed away on September 15, 2013, at the age of 98 years. Simonne was born in Gravelbourg on July 8, 1915 to Amédée and Jeanne Piché.

BOURGEOIS: Georgette Simonne Bourgeois of North Battleford, SK and formerly Gravelbourg, SK, passed away on September 15, 2013, at the age of 98 years. Simonne was born in Gravelbourg on July 8, 1915 to Amédée and Jeanne Piché. She was the second youngest child of 10. The family lived on a farm in Fir Mountain and later relocated to Lafleche. Simonne attended school until grade 8 and then took a job at the post office to help the family. Simonne married Albert Joseph Bourgeois on October 21, 1937, and they were blessed with a daughter, Jeannine Madeleine Bourgeois. Simonne and Albert lived and farmed 7 miles west of Gravelbourg, until moving to town in 1956. Their home was always open to relatives and friends, and Simonne enjoyed having company. She was an excellent cook and homemaker, and always had goodies in the freezer for coffee. Simonne and Albert loved to play cards - Canasta, Whist, Bridge, and 7 Card Rummy were their favorites. Another of her favorite hobbies was to work on complicated petit point patterns and she completed many collections of people, animals and landscapes. Simonne was a gentle person with a sunny disposition, and she always had a smile on her face. She had a special way that warmed the hearts of everyone who knew her and the qualities that made her such a wonderful person have left many beautiful memories. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Simonne is survived by her loving family, daughter Jeannine (George) Ferguson; grandchildren Scott Ferguson (Sheryl Sperling), Michelle Gaber (Scott), Ralph Ferguson; great grandsons Morgan, Dylan, Adam, Ryley, Logan. Predeceased by her husband Albert Bourgeois (1996); parents Amédée and Jeanne Piché; brother Henri Piché; sister Hénédine (Alphonse) Lamarche; brother Alphonse (Delia) Piché; sister Germaine (Clovis) Brière; sister Adrienne (Vincent) Rivard; brother Léger (Denise) Piché; sister Madeline Piché; brother Edgar Piché; sister Thérèse (Joe) Shefernack. Prayers were held on Friday, September 20, 2013, at 7:30 p.m., and Funeral Mass on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at 10:30 a.m., both at Our Lady of the Assumption Co-Cathedral, Gravelbourg, SK. Celebrant was Father Joseph Strohhofer. Cross bearer was Adam Gaber. The eulogy was shared by Michelle Gaber, Scott Ferguson and Ralph Ferguson. Readers were Allan Bourgeois and Sylvia Flynn. Prayers of the faithful were shared by Sheryl Sperling. Offertory gifts were presented by Dylan Ferguson, Ryley Ferguson and Logan Ferguson. Communion minister was Simone Jelinski. Soloist Henri Lepage was accompanied by organist Leona Bourgeois. Pallbearers were Scott Ferguson, Ralph Ferguson, Claude Piché, Rene Brière, Morgan Ferguson and Scott Gaber. Interment took place at the Gravelbourg Roman Catholic Cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Simonne to the Villa Pascal, 1301-113th St., North Battleford, SK S9A 3K1 or the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 279 3rd Ave. N., Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8, were greatly appreciated.
