BOLIN, Betty (Syl) July 22, 1939 - March 19, 2012 With much sadness we mourn the passing of a fabulous sister, aunt and friend. Her smile and dancing eyes will be remembered with fondness. Betty was a leading airwoman (LAW) serving from 1957 until 1964 in both Canada and France. In 1976, Betty enjoyed a five-week trip to Sweden with two sisters, a niece and her mother where Sarah was able to share memories of her early years. After her service she spent 36 years in the public service working for the Federal Government downtown Edmonton. At the age of 55, Betty retired to her acreage in Sherwood Park where she enjoyed riding her two horses and nurturing her many cats. Betty loved her country music and on several occasions played her guitar into the night. Special thanks to Dr. Janice Richman-Eisenstat and staff from the University of Alberta ALS Clinic, Dr. Greg of the Grey Nuns Hospital. Left to mourn are sisters; Ruth Nickerson (Saskatoon), Elsie Knoll (Saskatoon) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She was predeceased by parents Jack and Sarah Bolin, brothers, Olaf and John Nylander; sister, Edna Smith.
