BISHOP, ISABELLE:

BISHOP, ISABELLE: 1917-2012, Isabela (Isabelle) Jeneva (nee Johnson) Bishop was born in Hamar, North Dakota on October 8th, 1917 to Ann and Gustav Johnson. She was the first of seven siblings. In 1923 she immigrated to Mayfair, SK with her parents and four siblings. Her mother died in 1929, when Isabelle was only 11 years old. With the help of friends and neighbours, Isabelle raised her family. She saw 4 of her brothers leave to fight for Canada in WWII. In 1940, she married George M. Bishop. They farmed in the Mayfair district for 5 years, then moved to the Richard district to farm. Later they moved to North Battleford, first to a house and then to Valley View Towers. George died in 1993. Isabelle lived in the Towers until 2005, when she moved to Gleichen, AB to live near her son George (Doris Lindman). She spent her last years at the Brooks Specialized Care Facility near Cluny and passed away in the arms of her caregiver and friend on September 3rd, 2012. Isabelle's 5 brothers have predeceased her. She is survived by her sister Norma Ewing (Ottawa) and granddaughter Bobbi Bishop (Chilliwack). A memorial service will be held at a later date in North Battleford. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Kristeen Thiessen of Sallows and McDonald - Wilson and Zehner Funeral Home. 445-2418
