BERTSCH : Vivian Maud Bertsch (nee: Nelson) June 17, 1921 - Sept. 2, 2013. Viv was born in Battleford, and grew up on a farm at Gallivan, where she went to Elementary and High School. She then completed a Business course at Battleford Collegiate Institute. She went to work at MacDonald's Consolidated in North Battleford and through this job she met Peter Bertsch. They married in February, 1947. Viv and Peter eventually bought a store in Onion Lake. Later on, they moved to Camrose, where they ran a movie theatre. Peter then passed away, and Viv moved back to North Battleford, where she lived for the rest of her life. Viv was third in a family of nine children. She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Enid; by sisters, Eileen (Gordon) Laing, Cora (Alcide) Charbonneau, Jean (Curly) Doan and their spouses; by brothers, Hugh and Glen (Helen) Nelson, and by brothers-in-law, Ted Jones and Raymond Brinkhurst. She is survived by sisters, Olive (Ted) Jones, Marion (Ed) Smith and Doreen (Raymond) Brinkhurst. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by nephew, Doug Brinkhurst and niece, Karen Vetter. Service of Thanksgiving for Vivian's Life was held Sat, Sept. 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. from Third Avenue United Church, North Battleford, SK with Rev. Frances Patterson, officiating. Shared Memories were given by Linda Philibert and Music Ministry: Jaya Hoy ~ Organist and Hymn Selections: "How Great Thou Art", "In The Garden" & "In The Quiet Curve of Evening". Memorials are requested to Heart and Stroke Foundation and Canadian Cancer Society. Interment followed at Garden Of Christus ~ Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, North Battleford, SK.
