BAZARKEWICH : Anastasia (Nettie) Nee: Swystun (July 18, 1913 ~ November 3, 2013): It is with great sadness that the family of Anastasia (Nettie) Bazarkewich announce the passing of their mother, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother at the age of 100 years on Sunday, November 3, 2013 surrounded by her family. Left to cherish her memory are her children: John (Edna) Bazarkewich, Winnipeg, MB; Kay (Gordon) Mullett, North Battleford, SK; Joe (Jane) Bazarkewich, Toronto, ON; son-in-law, Merv Skwara and sister-in-law, Stella Swystun; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren & 3 great-great-grandchildren and numerous extended family members and friends. Nettie was predeceased by her husband, Peter; daughter, Marion Skwara; parents, John and Mary Swystun; sister, Anne Betzkal and brothers, Mike and Steve Swystun. Nettie was born July 18, 1913 at Orlow, SK. In July, 1934 she married Peter Bazarkewich. They settled and farmed in the Orlow district until 1978 when they moved to North Battleford, SK. Nettie was a devoted wife, mother, grand, great and great-great-grandmother who was happiest when her family was around her and she could entertain. Mom loved cooking and baking when family and friends came over for visits. She will be fondly remembered by members of All Saints Ukrainian Catholic Church in North Battleford where she was a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Womens League, singing in the choir, assisting with various church activities and functions. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to all the friends and family who visited Mom and especially to her friend Olga Yonz who was always ready to assist her when required and to the staff of River Heights Lodge for their care and compassion. Prayers (Parastas) were held Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. followed by the Divine Funeral Liturgy on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. ~ both Services from All Saints Ukrainian Catholic Church, North Battleford, SK with Fr. Vladimir Simunovic, Celebrant. Interment took place at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to All Saints Ukrainian Catholic Church, 922-108th St, North Battleford, SK S9A 2A8 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
