ARMSTRONG: Luella Armstrong, nee Goodfellow, formerly of North Battleford, SK passed away peacefully at Stensrud Lodge in Saskatoon, SK. Luella was born on the farm at Carruthers, SK. She attended school in Carruthers and then went to Normal School in Saskatoon. She taught in several rural schools until 1950. She then spent 11 months as a Psychiatric Nurse in training at Essondale, B.C. and then taught for 2 years in Terrace, B.C. From here, Luella returned to Saskatchewan where she received her B.Ed. Degree. She then taught in North Battleford, SK until her retirement from teaching in 1978. Luella and Gordon were married in 1977. She loved to participate in numerous sports, board games and cards, and enjoyed painting, handcrafts and travel. She was an active ACW Member. The family thanks Dr. Zane Tymchak and the staff at Stensrud Lodge for the exceptional compassionate care they gave our loved one. Luella is survived by her stepsons: Robert (Ruth), Bryan (Jean), Peter (Malena) and their children and grandchildren; by her brother, Gordon Goodfellow; sisters: Cora Gamble, Winnie Elliott (Ken), Doris Lovejoy, Olive Goodfellow, Herba Stables (Harry); brother-in-law, Ed Mireau (Sandi) and their children and grandchildren. Luella was predeceased by her loving husband Gordon; her parents, Herb and Gracia Goodfellow; sisters: Laura Mireau, Sheila McLeod (Ken) and their children Shannon, Cameron and Sheena; nephews, Randy and Travis Stables, Donald Goodfellow, Eddie Owens; brothers-in-law, Johnston Gamble and Ben Lovejoy. The Funeral Service was held Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Paul's Anglican Church, North Battleofrd, SK with Rev. Sheldon Gattinger officiating. Scripture Reading "Psalm 23" was read by Brad Armstrong. Music Ministry was Organist ~ Mrs. M. Junice Headley; St. Paul's Sanctuary Choir; Soloist, Robert MacKay ~"How Great Thou Art" and selections "Amazing Grace", "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee" and "Nunc Dimittis". Shared Memories were given by Bryan Armstrong and The Rose Ceremony by St. Paul's Anglican Church Women. The Honourary Pallbearers were "All who benefitted from Luella's knowledge and those who shared her life". The Active Pallbearers were Wayne Gamble, Brad Armsrong, Doug Goodfellow, Todd Chorney, Bob Goodfellow and Bill Armstrong. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stensrud Lodge, 2202 McEown Ave, Saskatoon, SK S7J 3L6 and Muscular Dystrophy Canada, 2345 Yonge St, Toronto, ON M4P 2E5 or Charity of One's Choice.
