ADAM: George Adam was born in Renfrew, Scotland on December 28, 1929, to Allan and Margaret Adam. He attended the Blythswood School in Renfrew with his nine brothers and sisters. In 1949 he and a friend decided to come to Canada. They each went their own ways when they arrived in Canada and George made his way to North Battleford where he had a relative, Jean Napier. He worked on a farm for the first six months and then began his career as a salesman at Sterling Distributors where he worked for 25 years until they closed the North Battleford location. He also helped his brothers-in-law farm and did carpentry work on this side. He then went on to work at Pyramid Mobile Homes and Crown Mart. He married his loving wife, Jean Weir in 1953. George spent much of his spare time with family and friends at his favorite place, his cabin at Lanz Point. George only returned to Scotland twice, once on his own in and once with his wife, Jean in 2000. George is survived by his son Gordon (Debbie) Adam, their children Trenton and Meagan, Lloydminster, AB; daughter Linda (Carey) Tollefson, their children Brooklyn and Kira, North Battleford; sister Margaret Morrison, Renfrew, Scotland; brother Dick Adam, Renfrew, Scotland; sisters-in-Law Mary Weir, Okotoks, AB and Margaret Weir, North Battleford, SK; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean Adam, parents Allan and Margaret Adam, six brothers, Allan, John, Jim, Andrew, Robert, Hugh, and one sister Bessie McFarlene. The Funeral Service was held May 8, 2012 at The Garden Chapel of The Battlefords Funeral Service with Rev. Amanda Currie officiating. Gifts of music were shared by Organist Glenn Goodman, and Soloist, Bob MacKay. The Honorary Pallbearers were "All those who shared in George's Life." Interment took place at the City Cemetery, North Battleford, SK. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to The Battlefords Funeral Service. Memorials may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation.
