Nine athletes from Saskatchewan universities invited to 2025 CFL Combines

The Canadian Football League is preparing for a pair of combines on April 29 to showcase athletes eligible for the CFL Draft.

The Canadian Football League is preparing for a pair of combines on April 29 to showcase athletes eligible for the CFL Draft.

More than 140 draft-eligible prospects will showcase their skills at two events for general managers, coaches and player personnel.

Waterloo will host the CFL Invitational Combine on February 28. The top prospects identified at the event will join the top-ranked class 2025 in Regina for the CFL Combine from March 21 to 23.

Nine athletes from Saskatchewan universities have been invited to participate:

Jacob Dakiniewich DL – Regina

Dakiniewhich is a fourth-year kinesiology student from Regina. The six-foot-three-inch defensive lineman played eight regular season and two playoff games with the Regina Rams in 2024. He racked up 12 tackles, 15 assisted tackles, three tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and one forced fumble.

Ryker Frank RB – Saskatchewan

Frank, a 2024 U SPORTS Second Team All-Canadian running back, calls Regina home. In his four seasons with the Huskies, Frank has run for 3,055 yards, including his first thousand-yard season (1182 yards) in 2024. Frank, a fourth-year engineering student, has won the 2022 Canada West Student-Athlete-Community award.

Chopper Hippie LB – Regina

Hippie hails from Lloydminster, Saskatchewan, and has played three seasons with the Rams after two seasons in the Prairie Football Conference with the Edmonton Wildcats. In 32 career games with the Rams, Hippie recorded 163 tackles, seven tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, and one interception.

Seth Hundeby LB – Saskatchewan

Hundeby joined the Huskies after graduating from Saskatoon’s Holy Cross High School. Hundeby, a First-Team All-Canadian linebacker, has played 42 games with the Huskies over the last four seasons. In 2024, Hudeby made 37 total tackles, five tackles for loss, and two sacks.

Connor Klassen OL – Regina

Klassen hails from Big River, Saskatchewan. The 6-foot-3-inch, 310-pound offensive lineman joined the Rams after graduating from the Regina Thunder junior program. Klassen hasn’t missed a game since joining the Rams, playing in 16 regular season games and two playoff games at right tackle.

Lane Novak – LB – Saskatchewan

Novak is a fourth-year linebacker from Balgonie. The six-foot-one-inch, 225-pound linebacker played seven games for the Huskies in 2024, recording 25 solo tackles, adding two tackles for loss, a forced fumble and an interception.

Dolani Robinson DB - Regina

Robinson, a native of Toronto, joined the University of Regina after starring with the British Columbia Football Conference’s West Shore Rebels. Robinson has suited up for the Rams for 16 games in the last two seasons, making 34 solo tackles and nine pass knockdowns from his boundary cornerback position.

Rylan Sokul REC – Regina

Sokul is a graduate of the nine-man football program in Wynyard. The fourth-year science student has played the last two seasons with the Rams after an all-Canadian career with the Regina Thunder. Sokul has suited up for 16 U-Sports games, with the Rams amassing 43 receptions for 460 yards and three touchdowns in 16 games.

Daniel Wiebe REC – Saskatchewan

Wiebe is coming off his best statistical season with the Huskies in 2024. In 11 games, Wiebe caught 66 passes for 923 yards and nine touchdowns. The five-foot-ten-inch receiver from Saskatoon was named the Huskies’ Most Outstanding Freshman in 2021.
