MELFORT — It took two overtime periods, but in the end the Melfort Mustangs were defeated by the Yorkton Terriers in the second game of their best of seven playoff series.
At the March 19 game in Melfort, Yorkton won 4-3.
The first period saw the most action. Cade Kennedy of the Terriers scored the first goal around six minutes into the game. Around a minute and a half lkater, Melfort's Boston Maxwell then tied the game. It was not to last. Yorkton's. Zach McIntyre got a power play goal followed with a goal from Karsten Kruska. Melfort's Marco Lopez then finished off the period scoring a point for his time.
In the second period, Lopez tied the game for the Mustangs.
Almost six minutes into the second overtime period, Kishaun Gervais scored the final point, giving the Terriers the victory and tying the series 1-1.
Joel Favreau of the Mustangs stopped 54 out of 58 shots, while Kael DePape of the Terriers stopped 45 out of 48 shots.
The next game will be in Yorkton March 22.
