It was a cold and windy day in Preeceville as the Lanigan Lazers six-man football team played their first road game of the season on September 16 against the Panthers..
Despite the far from ideal conditions, the Lazers had plenty of enthusiasm for the game.
The opening drive of the game saw the Lazers turn the ball over on the three-yard line, to which Preeceville promptly put up the games opening points.
On the second possession, the Lazers began to move the football but yet another turnover allowed the Panthers to begin their drive very deep in Lanigan territory, and once again they put up a major.
The following drive saw the Lazers move the ball to around mid-field only to stall and then have their punt returned for a touchdown resulting in a huge 22-0 first quarter deficit.
The second quarter saw some great defence and the offence began to settle down and the Lazers got on the board with a brilliant five-minute drive to end the half at 22-8.
The second half saw the teams go back and forth with Preeceville putting up three more scores and Lanigan only managing to punch in one, making the final score 42-14.
Despite the loss, the Lazers looked much better on defence and after a very tight start to the game the offence had some success moving the ball but were just unable to put it in the end zone.
Next week Lanigan plays host to Watson on Friday, September 23 at 4 p.m.
