HUMBOLDT — It was a rough and tumble game that didn't go the Humboldt Broncos' way.

In Game 2 of the playoff series against the La Ronge Ice Wolves on March 19, the Ice Wolves won 2-0.

"It's definitely not the outcome that we wanted but that's that's the beauty of a seven-game series," said Carter Hansen, the Humboldt Broncos' assistant coach. "Some nights it's yours, some nights it's theirs and I think we just got to regroup and now get to Game 3."

Nate Looft and Ethan Strik scored La Ronge's two goals in the second period.

It was a physical game. The Broncos received 12 two-minute penalties, while the Ice Wolves received seven.

"That's La Ronge's style of game. They like to play a mean game. Nothing wrong with it," Hansen said. "We're more than capable of sticking up for ourselves too, playing that sort of game but we just got to learn to stay out of the box because it's not working out in our favour."

The assistant coach said the team will be reminded of La Ronge's play style as they prepare for the next game

"If we spend the time, we have our own guys in the box, it's a hard game to win. We just got to remind them of that. We play five-on-five, we're pretty happy with that."

Rayce Ramsay of the Broncos stopped 24 out of 26 shots on goal, while Xavier Cannon of the Ice Wolves stopped all 28 shots on his net.

The next game will be in La Ronge on March 22.

"We just got to be prepared that everything's going happen a little quicker in that rink," Hansen said. "It's a lot smaller, so I think we got to be ready to make plays faster," he said. "We're obviously playing in a hostile arena there so we got to be ready for the fans being on top of us but I think that's just something you got to be ready for."
