Robyn Regehr is in Humboldt today to speak to local minor hockey players.Humboldt Minor Hockey (HMH) is hosting a banquet tonight (May 19) which features the Calgary Flames defenseman as the guest speaker.Thirty-year-old Regehr, who stands 6'3", weighs 225 lbs and was born in Brazil to missionary parents, should wow the young players in the audience, noted Kelsey Lindal, president of HMH.The event is actually one of 10 Scotiabank Ultimate Hockey Banquets hosted across Canada. HMH won the opportunity to host one of these banquets though Scotiabank's Community Hockey Sponsorship Program.HMH has applied to the program to help fund sweaters for some of their teams, and so was eligible to win one of the banquets. Their name was pulled when the draw was made for the banquet winners this spring.A total of 140 minor hockey players from Novice to Midget levels, along with coaches, will be attending the banquet to hear what Regehr has to say."This will be an opportunity for a lot of kids to get to experience an NHL hockey player," said Lindal.The young players will even get an opportunity to ask Regehr some questions during a Q and A session at the banquet. Regehr has a very interesting story to tell, Lindal noted.After being drafted by the Flames in 1998, Regehr was in a terrible car crash near his hometown of Rosthern, Saskatchewan in July of 1999. The crash broke both of his legs. However, he recovered in record time and actually played 57 games with the Flames in the 1999-2000 season.
