Zone Marksmanship Competition

The Battlefords cadets, both air and army, members were on the mark at the Stage II Zone Marksmanship Competition in North Battleford.

The Stage II Zone Marksmanship Competition was held in North Battleford at the Army Cadet Hall Feb. 26. The event provided an opportunity for cadets to show off their marksmanship skills, with the focus being on teaching cadets the proper use and safe handling of firearms.

The Battlefords cadets, both air and army, members were on the mark at the Stage II Zone Marksmanship Competition in North Battleford.

Behind the first overall team, 186 RCACS Lloydminster, the two Battlefords units took second and third place, the Battlefords air cadets shot 1420/1600 to earn second place while the Battlefords army cadets scored 1416/1600 and scored third place.

A total of five units and 25 competitors aimed their firearms at the target at the army cadet hall making for an exciting day of marksmanship.

In the open competition for 15-year-olds and older, it was a clean sweep for Lloydminster, as Aiden Langenfurth took first place with a 388/400 score. Heather Buerfiend was second and Ryder Anderson took third place.

In the junior competition, Lloydminster shooters were again on the mark. Tyler Daus was first with fellow Lloydminster cadet Brydon Harrison in second place.

Third place went to Amber Caplin of Battleford army cadets with a 340/400 score.

Cadets from Meadow Lake and Biggar also competed in the one-day event in North Battleford.
