Maidstone students are back into the swing of things, and the SCC is celebrating with a Welcome Back Block Party Sept. 7.

Many students, parents, teachers and community members are excited about the return to school and the Maidstone School Community Council believes it is a time to celebrate.

The SCC is planning their third annual Welcome Back Block Party to be held on Wednesday, Sept. 7. The committee works to bring the community together and invites everyone to be a part of the fun.

The event will be held at the ball diamonds behind the schools with a free barbecue from 5 to 7 p.m. and activities from 5 to 8 p.m.. If the weather is poor the block party will be held in the arena.

The committee is still inviting local groups and businesses to get involved and can be contacted through Michele at 893-2793. The event is for everyone, even those who don't have children involved in the schools and has been growing in popularity every year.

It is a time to enjoy a variety of fun activities, meet the people in the neighbourhood and build a strong community for local children and families.
