It was a busy weekend at the Humboldt Area Vintage and Antique Club.
The club held their annual Vintage Days on August 27-28 at the club's grounds south of Humboldt.
This year, the club held a two-day event, with truck and tractor pulls on August 27 and a more family-oriented event on August 28.
"Both days were a huge success," said Ken Klassen of the Vintage Club. "It was the biggest and best attendance we have ever had."
For a first-time event, the truck and tractor pulls were a huge success, bringing in approximately 250 people.
"The truck and tractor pulls was a learning curve for us," said Klassen. "We were told it was the best truck and tractor pull this year. We were surprised at the amount of entries we had this year."
Next year they hope to improve the truck and tractor pulls a little more, using what they learned this year to make it better.
The second day of their event had an even better turnout than the first.
"We had 375 people at the breakfast... and well over 500 people through the gate in the afternoon," said Klassen. "We were just thrilled with the turnout."
He was surprised at the amount of people who came out.
"We had a different crowd this year - a lot of the people were not from the area," said Klassen.
One of the biggest hits of the day was the petting zoo.
"The kids really enjoyed the barn full of animals - the petting zoo," said Klassen. "Anything to do with animals kids are attracted to."
Some of the success of the event might have had to do with a few new demonstrations the club had this year.
"We heard a lot about the horse demonstrations - we had a lot of comments on how well that went over," said Klassen.
The other new thing this year was homemade ice cream.
"That will probably be something else we will continue," said Klassen. "We went through six gallons of ice cream."
Klassen credits their sponsors with making the event such a success.
"The whole thing was a success because of all of the sponsorship by the implement dealers," said Klassen. "It was a great help."
He was thankful for all the sponsorship they received for the event.
