'Tis the season for holiday happenings

'Tis the season to be busy and entertained in Maidstone. The Red Hat Society's Festival of Trees will be set up in the health complex atrium from Nov. 21 to 26.

'Tis the season to be busy and entertained in Maidstone.

The Red Hat Society's Festival of Trees will be set up in the health complex atrium from Nov. 21 to 26. There will be entertainment on Saturday as well as musical guests at Pine Island Lodge during the week. The Border Tones from Lloydminster will play Tuesday 2 p.m. Johnny Martel will provide entertainment with his guitar Thursday at 1 p.m.

Thursday the United Church is presenting Country Blend's Christmas and Classic Country Show. The two-hour performance will be held at the Maidstone Legion Hall at 7 p.m. (MST). There will be an intermission with refreshments. The tickets can be purchased in advance by calling Dorothy at 893-2267 or at the door. The congregation is presenting the concert as a fundraiser for repairs to the foundation of the church.

More details will be available soon but the date has been set for Santa Claus Night. The annual event will be held on Friday, Dec. 2. The Maidstone Chamber of Commerce will continue the festive weekend holding their town-wide Christmas party Saturday, Dec. 3. Tickets are available at Video Junction and Elliott Insurance. The event is a great opportunity for businesses and groups in the community to share their Christmas celebration. Cocktails begin at 5:30 with supper set for 6:30 followed by comedian Tomm Liske and winding up with a dance with music provided by Stereo Ray Productions.

The Ecumenical Carol Service will be held Monday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at the United Church. It will feature Bible readings, congregational hymns and special music prepared by the community choir and the choirs from various churches in Maidstone.
