Time for Folkfest; e-Passport holders get free Transit ride

Avoid the traffic and hassles of parking; take Saskatoon Transit.

SASKATOON — Spend the weekend learning the culture of 15 participating ethnic communities that call the city their home in this year’s set from Aug. 15 to 17. Most of the pavilions are located at Prairieland Park.

The Francophone and German pavilions are a seven-minute bus ride, five minutes if you ride your bike and three minutes by car. It is also a 19-minute walk if you want a bit of exercise to stretch your legs and enjoy the summer weather.

The Francophone pavilion will be located at École Canadienne-Française, 2320 Louise Avenue, while the German side will be housed at Nutana Legion, 3021 Louise Street. The Indian and Métis pavilions will be at the Saskatoon Indian and Métis Friendship Centre at 168 Wall Street.

Each community will showcase its culture and traditions through arts, dances, music, and food. The three-day festival is open to the public, and Saskatoon Transit will offer free rides to all e-Passport holders.

Every year, Saskatoon Transit partners with the Saskatoon Folkfest to provide free transit service for e-Passport holders. When boarding, show the bus operator a Folkfest e-Passport or wristband to enjoy free service.

For convenient travel, hop on . Service starts 20 minutes before Folkfest opening and connects to all pavilions every 20 minutes.

The Folkfest Bus Terminal serves as the main transfer point for Route 150 and is located on the south side of 23rd Street, facing east in front of the Francis Morrison Library. Additionally, routes  and  serve Prairieland Park, offering another easy option for Folkfest explorers.

Folkfest transit service hours: Thursday, Aug. 15, and Friday, Aug. 16, from 4:40 p.m. to 12:20 a.m. and from 2:40 to 12:20 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16.
