As individuals we may falter, but united we can accomplish big things.
That is the message of the Battlefords United Way during October, United Way Month.
"This is our busiest fundraising time and we need your help to reach our goal of $245,000," says Executive Director Jane Zielke
"Each year we fund non-profit organizations in the Battlefords, supporting programs and services so important to the health of our community."
Battlefords United Way has a Leadership Recognition Program for those choosing to donate $100 or more, but any donation is gratefully accepted.
"Your gift makes a difference ... feeding someone hungry, providing counselling to someone suffering from abuse, supporting programs for those with mental illness or teaching children about bullying, safety and respect," Zielke says.
These are just some of the services and programs provided by the charitable organizations BUW funds. Issues focused on in the past year have included homelessness, teen centre, early childhood intervention, community safety and transportation.
