The elementary students and staff from Leask Community School joined with 100 students and staff at Kihiw Waciston School on Muskeg Lake Cree Nation to participate in the Annual Terry Fox National School run Sept. 28.
These staff and students joined 8,500 schools across Canada in raising money for cancer research.
Blaine Lake Composite School K-12 students participated in a walk Sept. 30 raising $2,425.95. Acknowledgement recognizing the local businesses that donated to the run included Marcelin Co-op, Blaine Lake Esso, Blaine Lake variety, Blaine Lake Fast Gas, Blaine Lake Auction Services, Constable Pambrun of Blaine Lake RCMP Detachment, CIBC, Andy Ciona, Jennifer Ciona and all the staff and students of all three schools for their continued participation and support.
Some new Terry Fox initiatives include pledging on-line, encouraging daycares to host their own Little Fox Run and retirement and senior residences hosting The Silver Fox Run.
