Seasonal activities stacking up

The season continues to be busy in Maidstone. This week the Red Hat Society is hosting its Festival of Trees in the Maidstone Health Complex. There will be entertainment Saturday beginning at 1:30 p.m.

The season continues to be busy in Maidstone.

This week the Red Hat Society is hosting its Festival of Trees in the Maidstone Health Complex. There will be entertainment Saturday beginning at 1:30 p.m. featuring Take Note, a musical group from Medstead, Julie Maxwell, Lawrence Pellizzari, the United and Anglican Choir, students from the high school music program and the Yellowhead Ramblers.

Bidding on the items closes Saturday evening with the event wrapping up at 8 p.m.

Moonlight Madness will be held on Dec. 2. The tree will be lit at 6:30 p.m. and the gift tree draw will be made at 6:45 p.m. Entries are available at local businesses and the winner must be in attendance to claim the prizes.

Santa will be in the Legion Hall following the draw to visit with everyone.

There will be special deals at local businesses and free sleigh rides departing from the high school from 7 to 9 p.m.

A golden age supper will be held for those 70 and over at the Seniors' Drop-In Centre Dec. 4 at 5 p.m. with entertainment to follow. To plan a ride please call 893-4736 or 893-8092.

The annual cookie walk at St. Andrew's Anglican Church Hall will be held Friday, Dec. 9 beginning at 11:30 a.m. Guests are invited to bring an ice cream pail from home and fill it with homemade holiday treats for $20. Lunch will be available and proceeds will go to assist three local women planning a mission trip to Baja, Mexico to help build houses.
