SASKATOON - It was a busy time for the Saskatoon Police Service over the weekend after they responded to several stabbings in the city.
When they arrived, officers found a male suffering from injuries consistent with a stab wound; he was transported to hospital where the injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.
The investigation is ongoing.
In a separate incident, at approximately 4:40 a.m. on Aug. 10, 2024 police were called to the 500 block of Avenue X Â鶹´«Ã½AV for a report of an injured person. Further updates stated a male was bleeding outside of a building.
While police were en route, another report stated the man’s condition was deteriorating.
Officers located the victim covered in blood. He stated he was assaulted with a machete. Paramedics were called to the scene and transported the man to hospital with serious injuries.
At this time, it is believed the suspect and victim were known to each other.
The Saskatoon Police Serious Assault Unit (SAU) is continuing to investigate.
In another stabbing incident, on Aug. 10 at approximately 6:50 a.m. police attended a call for an injured person in the 1800 block of 22nd Street West. Initial information stated a female had been assaulted.
Officers located the female victim suffering from injuries consistent with a stab wound. While officers attended to the victim, other officers located the suspect in a building, but the suspect then fled.
The victim was transported to hospital with what were believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Shortly after, police heard screaming from a nearby parking lot. Upon arrival, officers found the victim’s family member in a physical altercation with the suspect. The suspect was then arrested and as a result, a 14-year-old male youth is facing charges relating to aggravated assault, and breaching court-ordered conditions.
Police also discovered that another male was involved in the assault. A warrant has been issued for the 13-year-old male youth suspect. He is also facing charges relating to aggravated assault, and breaching court-ordered conditions.
The two males youth were also found to be the suspects in a separate assault from the same morning.
Investigation is ongoing by the SAU.

When they arrived, officers located a 16-year-old male youth suffering from injuries consistent with a stab wound. He was transported to hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
After further investigation, officers obtained video evidence which helped them obtain a description of the suspect.
Later that night, officers were able to locate and arrest the suspect. As a result, a 17-year-old male youth is facing charges relating to aggravated assault.
