SASKATOON — First responders zipped through Central Avenue on Monday evening, July 29, to assist in a structure fire in the 200 block of Gray Avenue. SFD dispatch received the report at 7:49 p.m.

The Saskatoon Fire Department sent rescue trucks and used an aerial ladder to extinguish a duplex near Imperial Street. The Saskatoon Police Service set up a perimeter at least two blocks around the scene while the City of Saskatoon crews assisted.

Firefighters saw a duplex house fully involved, with fires already reaching one unit of a second duplex. They advanced hose lines to attack the exteriors of both structures and later used an aerial ladder to extinguish the fire from above.

All occupants were accounted for, and no injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported after the fire had been completely extinguished.

Several fire crews remained on the scene to ventilate and ensure there were no more hot spots. A fire investigator was called to identify the cause and origin of the late-evening blaze and estimate the damage.
