The RCMP is reporting that a North Battleford Gang Task Force investigation has led to seizure of five kilograms of cocaine in North Battleford.
According to police, a vehicle stop and subsequent search was conducted on Aug. 13 resulting in the cocaine being located and seized. This stop and seizure was done with assistance from the Saskatchewan Crime Reduction Team.
“Five kilograms equates to approximately 50,000 doses of cocaine seized. This is extremely significant to North Battleford and surrounding communities because it means these drugs have been taken off the streets and out of people’s hands,” said S/Sgt. Jason Teniuk, acting Battlefords Detachment Commander, in a statement.
“Consider 50,000 doses of drugs entering a community of around 14,000 people. It’s a reminder of how significant the impact of one drug seizure can be on a community.”
No charges have been laid at this time, say police, and the investigation is ongoing. Updates will be provided when available.
