The male members of the Blaine Lake RCMP Detachment joined the over 240,000 Canadian men participating in global 'Movember' charity last month. November of each year, hundreds of thousands of men across the world join forces and sprout moustaches to raise funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer.

The men registered with a clean-shaven face Nov. 1 and for the rest of the month these selfless and generous men, known as 'MoBros', groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery! At the end of the month, the men celebrate by hosting a party or join a Movember party, and submit their monetary donations.

The Blaine Lake Detachment was pleased to announce its collection of $336 in donations from its four participating members. A total of $36.6 million was raised for Prostate Cancer Canada, well above last year's total of $22.3 million raised by nearly 119,000 Canadians.

Prostate cancer is the number one cancer found among men. Funds raised are directed to programs operated directly by Movember and Prostate Cancer Canada. Together, the two channels work collaboratively to ensure Movember funds are supporting a variety of innovative, world-class programs in line with its strategic goals, especially in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.
