RCMP arrest 3 after assault and attempted robbery in Arelee

Two men and a young offender were arrested after an assault and attempted robbery in Arelee and a break-in in the R. M. of Eagle Creek on Oct. 7

BIGGAR – Two men and a young offender allegedly assaulted a man and attempted to rob him in Arelee.

According to Biggar RCMP, they were dispatched to a call at about 5:20 p.m. on Oct. 7 of an attempted robbery. The police investigation determined that a man approached the victim, assaulted him and unsuccessfully tried to steal his vehicle. The suspect fled in an SUV, which he and the other two suspects arrived in.

Police located the SUV and tried pulling it over but the driver sped away. North Battleford RCMP later located the SUV and activated their emergency equipment while pursuing the SUV. The SUV eventually came to a stop and one man was taken into custody. North Battleford RCMP Police Dog Services helped locate the other two suspects.

Blair Brabant, 30, of Red Pheasant First Nation, Rocky Meechance, 29, of Yorkton, and a young offender who can’t be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, were arrested.

The RCMP investigation also determined that the same three suspects broke into a rural residence in the R.M. of Eagle Creek the same day.

Meechance is charged with accessory after the fact to robbery, break and enter, flight from a police officer, dangerous driving, resisting arrest, fraudulently impersonating another person with intent to avoid prosecution, and driving while prohibited.

Brabant is charged with accessory after the fact to robbery, and break and enter.

The young offender was charged with robbery, break and enter, and resisting arrest.

North Battleford RCMP, Unity RCMP, the Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford General Investigation Section, North Battleford RCMP Police Dog Services, and Rosetown Combined RCMP Traffic Services assisted in the investigation.

All three individuals appeared in court in North Battleford on Oct. 12.
