SASKATOON - Police were kept busy handing out tickets during Cruise weekend in Saskatoon.

Throughout the weekend of August 16th to 18th, the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) along with the Regina Police Service, and Saskatchewan RCMP conducted a high-profile presence on 8th Street, downtown, and in adjacent parking lots over the weekend to ensure traffic and pedestrian safety.

Over that time, the SPS called out and deployed extra officers on Friday and Saturday, and the Air Support Unit (ASU) also assisted.

Through Friday and Saturday, the results were: 80-plus tickets handed out; 70-plus warnings given; four suspensions; two vehicle-impounds; and four arrests.

The Saskatoon Police Service are thanking members of the public for accommodating this traffic safety initiative.
