Police continue to look for clues in 1991 homicide of Jean Lachance

Historical Homicide: Jean LaChance was discovered deceased in a wooded area south of the Victoria Hospital.

PRINCE ALBERT - On Sept. 14, 1991, at approximately 2 a.m., Jean LaChance was last seen in the 3500 block of 2nd Ave West in Prince Albert. On Sept. 15, 1991, at approximately 8 a.m., 29-year-old Jean LaChance was discovered deceased in a wooded area south of the Victoria Hospital. Jean Lachance had five children, now adults, who continue to look for answers.

The Prince Albert Police Service continues to investigate the homicide of Jean LaChance. Sergeant Aaron Anderson of the Historical Crimes and Missing Persons Unit shares the following: “Although time has passed, investigative technology and techniques have significantly advanced making me hopeful we can find the person responsible and give the family of Jean LaChance closure.”

On Sept. 18, of this year, members of the Prince Albert Police Service Victim Services Unit, Criminal Investigations Division and Elder Liz Settee met Jean LaChance’s son, Theron Morin, who was four years old at the time of his mother’s homicide, to honour Jean’s memory by visiting a memorial bench which is located in the 2800 Block of 10th Ave West.

Theron Morin is making a plea to the public, “To anyone who knows anything regarding my mom, any information, anything at all, whether you think it is small or, everything is helpful. To the person involved, who is listening to this, know that I forgive you and my family forgives you.”
