Prairie North Health Region has appointed Glenys Coleman a senior liaison officer for PNHR in Lloydminster.
Coleman's responsibilities and primary focuses are:
To improve patient care in Lloydminster through collaboration with all health providers and with special focus on Lloydminster Hospital;
To resolve operational issues affecting the delivery of health care and proper functioning of the organization in a timely manner through effective coordination, prioritization, and alignment of resources;
To improve community engagement through effective co-operation and collaboration with key community stakeholders; and
To liaise with Alberta Health Services on common issues and mutual concerns.
Coleman will report directly to PNHR's vice-president of Integrated Health Services on acute care matters in Lloydminster; and will continue to report directly to PNHR's vice-President of Primary Health Services on matters relating to population health. Coleman has been serving as regional director of Population Health Services for Prairie North since April 2010.
Coleman is a lifetime resident of Lloydminster and is well-known to local and area residents. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Saskatchewan, is a trained mediator, and will complete a Master of Arts in Leadership, with a speciality in health, in the fall of 2012.
"We anticipate that her expertise, experience and understanding of health care and service issues and priorities in Lloydminster, along with her extensive knowledge of the community will serve her and Prairie North well in her new position," said Glennys Uzelman, vice-president of Primary Health Services.
"Delivery of health care services in Lloydminster is very complex," Uzelman added.
"We are pleased to provide additional support and direction for our ever expanding health services in the Border City, and to help meet the ever increasing demands of the continually growing community," she said.
Coleman's assignment to her new role necessitates other organizational changes for Prairie North. Effective immediately, Ernie How has assumed Coleman's previous position of regional director of Population Health Services. Jody Mayer has assumed How's previous role as manager of Rehabilitation Services. How is based in North Battleford. Mayer, who previously served as senior clinical lead on occupational therapy, is based in Lloydminster.
