Doctor recruitment continues to challenge the board of North Saskatchewan River Health Holdings, but there was one item of good news to report at the board's meeting July 17.
Dr. Shoaib has agreed to extend his contract to June 30, 2012.
The board members appreciate his commitment to the community and look forward to working with him for the upcoming year, a press release states.
Health Holdings continues to work with two recruiting agencies and Prairie North Health Region through the region's access to the Provincial Recruitment Agency to find physicians. Health Holdings and PNHR are also working together to engage locum services in the interim.
Dr. Mbaogu is on holidays for the month of August. The clinics will continue to try to accommodate patients' needs, but patience is urged while services are short staffed.
Clinic staff member Marie-Anne Corbeil has resigned.
"We wish her well and appreciate her contributions as a staff member at the Riverside Clinic," the press release states.
The next meeting of the board is Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the RM of Mervin office in Turtleford.
