Holiday revelers might want to stay home this December and on New Year鈥檚 night, as there won鈥檛 be rides available from Operation Red Nose this season.
Their Battlefords chairperson David Schell confirmed the news Thursday in a release. As is the case with most other 2020 cancellations, it is due to the COVID-19 pandemic and public health concerns surrounding it.
鈥淯nfortunately due to current circumstances Operation Red Nose will be unable to operate for the 2020 Holiday Season. We will hopefully be back for the 2021 Campaign!!鈥�
The decision impacts all Operation Red Nose efforts nationwide. The national Operation Red Nose in Quebec City issued a statement that after 鈥渃areful consideration of the current public health and its logistical impact on the service, Operation Red Nose has decided not to provide its famous safe ride service during the 2020 holiday season. Nonetheless, Operation Red Nose plans to pursue its mission of promoting responsible consumption whileadapting to the current exceptional situation.鈥�
Operation Red Nose plans to continue to promote its road safety message and 鈥渞emind everyone to always plan for a safe way to get home by calling a friend, a relative, a cab, by designating a sober driver, or by staying overnight.鈥�
