MELFORT — Melfort’s peep fans and diorama enthusiasts have a new activity to do this Easter, with the Melfort Public Library’s all-ages Easter peeps diorama contest.
For the contest, until April 1, community members can pick up peeps from the library to build and submit a peep diorama.
Judging by library patrons who visit will take place from April 2- 12, and the “peep-les choice” will be announced April 13.
“We had posts by other libraries that had success running this program, so we thought we would give it a whirl here,” said Rene Chambers, Melfort’s branch librarian. “Ideas come from all over.”
Chambers said it was important to include all ages, because often programming is grouped specifically by age.
Prizes for the “peep-les choice” are three Easter-themed baskets, which the library will be giving to the community’s favourites.
Ideas for the dioramas are invited to come from pop culture and current events, though Chambers said they would especially love to see book-themed displays. The finished dioramas will be displayed throughout the library.
“We know because of our pumpkin decorating contest, we have a lot of creative people in our community.”
